Can't find your IRD Number?
27 Feb 2024
Not to worry there are a few places you can find it. The easiest way is by using our 'Find my IRD number' service here: ird.govt.nz/managing-my-tax/ird-numbers/find-my-ird-number Alternatively look on a payslip. A recent one or an old one. Your IRD number won’t change. You keep the same IRD number for life so, even if you forget it, you do not need to apply for a new one.
The minimum wage is increasing from the 1st of April 💰💵
1 Feb 2024
The Workplace Relations and Safety Minister has announced that the adult minimum wage will be rising to $23.15 per hour from 1 April 2024. This is an increase of 45 cents per hour from the current hourly rate of $22.70.
The training and starting-out minimum wages will also both increase to $18.52 per hour, remaining at 80% of the adult minimum wage. This is a rise from the current minimum rate of $18.16 per hour.
For an employee who works 40 hours a week, the minimum wage increase to $23.15 per hour means they’ll earn an extra $18 each week before tax.

What assets you can claim

You must claim depreciation on assets kept in your business for longer than a year. These are capital expenses or capital (fixed) assets.
Some assets do not depreciate, including:landtrading stockfranchise feesintangible assets, like goodwill.
